【題目】閱讀理解
How do you like your school? Have you ever written to your headmaster to express your idea? Here are some letters written by students from different schools.

Luke, 14, from Jiangsu
I will give some suggestions about our school uniform. In our school, we students have to wear uniform every day. But the yellow and green sports kit (服裝) looks really dark and old. It can't stand for young and lively spirit. We can add some red or orange colors and make a new type of uniform. I hope our headmaster will think about it.

Danny, 14, from Zhejiang
I have two suggestions for my headmaster. First of all, I think we should have more hobby classes in science, such as plane model making class and computer programming class. It is really boring to study basic subjects all the time. And second, I hope we can have more PE lessons or more time for physical exercise. Lots of students now don't have a strong enough body.

Sam, 15, from Shanxi
I'd like to say thank you to my headmaster. About one week ago, I got a bad cold after playing basketball. Our headmaster came to me after he knew about it. He took care of me until my parents came. I really want to thank him for that.

Helen, 14, from Shandong
In the letter I wrote, I want to talk about the possibility of personal classes. Now many middle schools are trying the “personal class" system. Students don't have regular classes. They can choose lessons they want to take. I think it is more effective. And it is also good for exercise. We don't have to stay in one classroom all the time.

【題目】 Star scientists have taken the first ever picture of a black hole, which is from a far away galaxy (銀河系). It is 40 billion km across-three million times the size of the Earth-and has been described by scientists as "a monster".

The black hole is 500 million trillion km away and was photographed by a network of eight telescopes (望遠(yuǎn)鏡) across the world.

Details have come out today in Astrophysical Journal Letters. Prof Heino Falcke, says "It is one of the heaviest black holes that we think there is. It is a real monster."

The picture shows a quite bright "ring of fire", as Prof Falcke describes it. The bright halo is caused by superheated gas fling into the hole. The light is brighter than all the billions of other stars in the galaxy-which is why it can be seen so far away from Earth.

The dark circle at the centre is the point at which the gas enters the black holes, which is an object that has such a large gravitational (萬(wàn)有引力的) pull, not even light can escape.

【題目】 The idea of anonymous(匿名) social media is stronger than ever. However, there's a debate over the pros and cons of using popular anonymous apps.

Supporters of these apps offer several reasons why they believe the technology is good.

Many people post life events on apps to share with family and friends. However, some of those same people will turn to anonymous sites to ask for life advice when they feel uncomfortable sharing personal details with a friend. According to the economist Michael Heyward, since users are not identified, troubled individuals can find help from a non-judgmental source through apps. Take the popular anonymous app AfterSchool as the example. The app allows teens to speak freely with others about emotional and everyday life worries and problems.

Along the same lines, supporters believe that meaningful conversations can push important subjects to the front because a person is more likely to comment without fear of outcomes. These situations enable people to draw attention to subjects that might otherwise be pushed aside.

One of the goals of using anonymous apps is to encourage the users to post news as it happens. In 2017, a new service that produces articles automatically from users' posts came out. Surprisingly, it is popular-even writers at news companies use it. Some journalists even have started using these apps to report on the tech industry.

However, critics, people who are against the idea of anonymous commenting, see these apps as tools that spread less-desirable behaviors(舉止). They reason if the limitation set by social rules is removed, there will be more improper behaviors.

One of the most common criticisms of anonymous social media is how easily a user can post a hurtful comment on an individual. This often puts the victim at the disadvantage of having to prove the statement false. Also, beyond the worry of such posts, there are more serious worries about crimes resulted from anonymous violence(暴力). While there are pros and cons to this debate, it's necessary to realize that anonymity is a hallmark(標(biāo)志) of our history. As social media becomes a larger presence in everyday life, it's likely this subject will continue to be debated.

1AfterSchool in the third paragraph is mentioned to ________.

A.stress the bright side of anonymous appsB.encourage teens to use social media more

C.introduce a very popular app among teensD.show the possible problems of social media

2The writer probably agrees that ________.

A.it's beneficial to encourage further use of anonyrnous apps

B.more rules are needed to make a standard for anonymous apps

C.people need to wait to see whether anonymous apps are really bad

D.anonymous apps have something to do with the development of the society

3What might be the best title for the passage?

A.Do You Have a Right to Be Anonymous?B.The Popularity of Social Media

C.Anonymous Apps, Good or Bad?D.A Debate on the Use of Apps

【題目】 Read the passage and fill in the blanks with proper words

The BBC recently reported a great rise in British English in the US. Words like “cheers”, meaning “thank you”, and “mate”, meaning “friend”, are becoming popular. No one knows h1 this has happened, although the success of British films like Harry Potter may have something to do with it.

British English and American English are a little different. The two are the same in grammar but different in the way they pronounce and spell some words. Americans pronounce words like car, better and sweater with an /er/ at the e2. The British way of spelling “color” is “colour” and they write “favorite” a 3 “favourite”.

English is the most spoken language in the world because of the British Empire. Its colonies(殖民地) o4 covered 25% of the planet. In some parts of the US, people really like the British accent(口音). The British actor Hugh Grant, with his British accent was very s5 in Hollywood. His accent is very popular, and Americans often think British accents s6 very elegant 優(yōu) .
