　　Peter didn't like to use his head. He never put his heart into his studies when he was at school. So he fell behind his classmates and couldn't pass the exams and he hardly finished middle school. Later on he found work in a factory. At first he worked in an office, but he was unable to do his job. He was sent to a workshop. He had to do some unskilled work there. He was always tired when he got home and went to bed as soon as he had supper.

　　Once the young man asked a barber (理發(fā)師) to cut his long hair off. He found the work was clean and light. He decided to be a barber too and left the factory. He took the barber as his teacher. Three months passed, but he learned nothing and the barber lost his patience (耐心) and told him to go home. The young man stayed at home and had nothing to do. His father helped him to open a barber's shop in their small town, but nobody would have their hair cut in his shop. His father wanted others to believe Peter and asked his son to cut his hair off. The young man was so afraid that he cut his father's ear off. The old man began to call out, “Ear! my ear!”

　　Peter picked the ear up and said, “Stop shouting, daddy! Your ear is here!”

從湘西回來(lái)，和朋友們說(shuō)起黑妮；說(shuō)起在鳳凰的偶遇，說(shuō)起跟她去苗寨跑了一天，看她做的種種事，感慨得很；說(shuō)想起一句記不全的俗語(yǔ)，“什么什么像針挑土，什么什么像水推沙”，黑妮就是在針挑土；黑妮！黑妮……

下午去另一個(gè)苗寨，又是近兩小時(shí)車(chē)程。“這一個(gè)繡得比較好，就是村寨的形態(tài)不如老家寨，建了些新房�！焙谀輰�(duì)一個(gè)個(gè)目的地都很了解。等到回程，太陽(yáng)已經(jīng)有倦容了。
晚上我們?cè)阢吋蜷_(kāi)的咖啡館休息聊天。吉夫是湘援游志愿者，今天一路一直是他提著大包的棉線。黑妮的湘援游，就是靠這些當(dāng)?shù)氐闹驹刚�，不取一毫地付出，才運(yùn)作起來(lái)。今天開(kāi)車(chē)的“李萬(wàn)通”，也有自己的公司。
咖啡館的壁掛上有一個(gè)插頁(yè)，取下一看，是鳳凰手繪地圖，封面圖案取自傳統(tǒng)苗繡，那五彩靈動(dòng)的喜鵲，我看得呆了一下，原來(lái)這樣好。地圖10元一份，買(mǎi)下可算對(duì)湘援游的支持，還可得一枚徽章作獎(jiǎng)勵(lì)。我想了想，紅著臉買(mǎi)了四份，說(shuō)回去送朋友。素靜的黑妮眼睛亮了。老天！
這有什么用！我心里說(shuō)。
