that the news was false">
【題目】If you come across the news of the death of Mr. Bean (actor Rowan Atkinson) on your Facebook account and you are curious to know more by opening a link, then think twice. Because the news is fake, a message about his suicide.
The fake news created tense moments for the fans of Atkinson who were curious to know why the actor took the step. Apparently, rumours said that the 58-year-old actor took his life after a producer dropped him from Johnny English 3. Later, it was found that both the news were fake. Such rumours have their origins in social platforms, where it is not easy to track who made them.
Trishneet Arora, ethical hacker from the city, said: "Culprits are aware that Facebook does not store data on its servers, so the chances of getting tracked are less with such platforms. Many rumours have been spread using such platforms. Since one cannot stop the culprits, users should always cross-check the news with news websites, and only then believe these. On platforms like Facebook, one should resist clicking on any links, because it can pass on your login and password details to the hackers. Besides, one should forward news links only after checking out from reputed news websites."
So, if you click on his so-called "suicide video", you could unwittingly install malware(惡意軟件)in your system through which the hacker can access your personal details like logins and passwords.
Ankit Aggarwal, a resident of Tagore Nagar, said: "I have also been a great fan of actor Rowan Atkinson, so the news of his death was quite shocking for me. The moment I read it, I shared the same on my wall. Later, through a friend, who had done her research well on the news, I got to know the news was false. So, I immediately removed the post from my wall and also asked my friends on Facebook not to forward the same news."
Many stars in the past, including Jackie Chan, Will Smith, Angelina Jolie, and Miley Cyrus, have become victims to such death hoaxes(惡作劇). No police official was available for any comment.

Improve the Public Speaking With Body Language
A successful public speaker does not only focus on what to say, but the physical message of presentation. Some call this “body language.” It includes posture, eye contact and gestures - how you move your hands or arms. Charles LeBeau, a professor of public speaking tells about how to do it well.
【1】 ________. Presenters may not feel at ease because they’re doing a presentation. They may worry about their poor English, and their lack of confidence. They’re trying to figure out the grammar and what to say. They’re having all kinds of difficulty doing presentation, and also controlling their body. They may move from side to side. Besides, it’s not a good idea for a presenter to stand perfectly still. In fact an audience can lose interest in a speaker who does not move.
【2】 ________. With posture, the typical problem is that they are often moving back and forth, and they’re not facing the audience. They don’t catch the audience’s attention. They are only trying to talk from notes, facing the white board or the screen with slides rather than talking to the audience. Same thing with eye contact. Besides, some experts advise moving your body to a different place for each idea. Stay in place until you finish making that point. Then move to the next place on the stage or in the room.
【3】________. Images should help communicate the point you want to make. Writing a few words with the image on your slide instead of sentences helps you remember that point. If you can figure out what images to use that will communicate your message, because the images will communicate faster and more clearly than words. Then you can look at the audience while speaking.
【4】 ________. Holding on to notes makes it more difficult for a speaker to have a proper gesture. Mr. LeBeau’s book, “Speaking of Speech,” discusses this. He says gestures should support the point the speaker is making. For example, when talking about three ideas, hold up three fingers to introduce them. Then hold up one finger while explaining the first idea, two fingers for the second, and so on.
【5】________. It can help you see from a different angle, you may clearly see: “Oh, My! I had no idea that I looked like that! My posture! I’m moving all over the place. Look at my hips. It’s going back and forth and back and forth. And my eye contact! All of these other goofy things that I’m doing without noticing it, or thinking that ‘well, it’s not such a big deal.’ Once you see what you are doing, you may change more quickly. So you can do your presentation again, and work on changing, then you can compare, and see that you can make quick span>improvement.
An important part of public speaking is practice. When you practice remember these important tips: Be aware of your posture, eye contact, and gestures. Record yourself using a phone, tablet, or camera. Watch yourself and plan what you will do to improve.

【題目】Lacrosse, invented by the Native Americans, is a popular team sport in North America and a national summer sport for Canada. It involves the use of nets, or “heads” as they are called, which consist of a wooden or metal stick with a net on the end. Hockey is a game based on this sport.
The name “l(fā)acrosse” was named by the French settlers ,with “Crosse” meaning curved stick. Lacrosse played a more serious role in Indian culture than anywhere else. Lacrosse was not a very well-known sport until the late nineteenth century. It was mostly a boy’s game until a few years ago, and now it is played by both boys and girls.
There were about three different forms of lacrosse based on the different tribes or places of how they played it. One of the ways still played today is called double stick; you play by using a two-and-a-half-foot stick in each hand and tossing a deer skin ball in between the two sticks.
Like many other ball games ,there are two teams in Lacrosse ,each with ten players. There is one goalie, three defensemen, three midfielders and three attackmen. The goalies defend the goals, and if the ball goes into the goal, the team who got the goal scores. Whoever scores the most goals by the end of the game wins, with an overtime period being played if the game is tied. The game has four quarters and starts with a "faceoff “at the beginning of each quarter. A faceoff is when the ball is on the ground to start the game ,and one person from each team fights for the bail.

【題目】Your body, which has close relations with the food you eat, is the most important thing you own, so it needs proper treatment and proper nourishment (營養(yǎng)). The old saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” is not as silly as some people think. The body needs fruit and vegetables because they contain vitamin C. Many people take extra vitamins in pill form, believing that these will make them healthy.
But a good diet is made up of nourishing food and this gives all the vitamins you need. The body doesn’t need or use extra vitamins, so why waste money on them?
In the modern western world, many people are too busy to bother about eating properly. They throw anything into their stomachs, eating hurriedly and carelessly. The list of illnesses caused or made worse by bad eating habits is frightening.

【題目】E
Science has a lot of uses. It can uncover laws of nature, cure diseases, make bombs, and help bridges to stand up. Indeed science is so good at what it does that there’s always a temptation(誘惑) to drag it into problems where it may not be helpful. David Brooks, author of The Social Animal: The Hidden Sources of Love, Character, and Achievement, appears to be the latest in a long line of writers who have failed to resist the temptation.
Brooks gained fame for several books. His latest book The Social Animal, however, is more ambitious and serious than his earlier books. It is an attempt to deal with a set of weighty topics. The book focuses on big questions: What has science revealed about human nature? What are the sources of character? And why are some people happy and successful while others aren’t?
To answer these questions, Brooks surveys a wide range of disciplines(學科). Considering this, you might expect the book to be a dry recitation of facts. But Brooks has structured his book in an unorthodox(非常規(guī)的), and perhaps unfortunate, way. Instead of introducing scientific theories, he tells a story, within which he tries to make his points, perhaps in order to keep the reader’s attention. So as Harold and Erica, the hero and heroine in his story, live through childhood, we hear about the science of child development and as they begin to date we hear about the theory of sexual attraction. Brooks carries this through to the death of one of his characters.
On the whole,Brooks’ story is acceptable if uninspired. As one would expect, his writing is mostly clear and, to be fair, some chapters stand out above the rest. I enjoyed, for instance, the chapter in which Harold discovers how to think on his own. While Harold and Erica are certainly not strong or memorable characters, the more serious problems with The Social Animal lie elsewhere. These problems partly involve Brooks’ attempt to translate his tale into science.
【1】The author mentions the functions of science at the beginning of the passage to__________.
A. illustrate where science can be applied
B. demonstrate the value of Brooks’ new book
C. remind the reader of the importance of science
D. explain why many writers use science in their works
【2】According to the author, which of the following could be a strength of the book?
A. Its strong basis.
B. Its convincing points.
C. Its clear writing.
D. Its memorable characters.
【3】What is the author’s general attitude towards the book?
A. Contradictory.
B. Supportive.
C. Cautious.
D. Critical.
【4】What is the author likely to write about after the last paragraph?
A. Problems with the book.
B. Brooks’s life experience.
C. Death of the characters.
D. Brooks’s translation skills.
