一、Language points
1. in other words=in another word:換句話說
in a word=in one word:總而言之
have a word with=have a few words with:和…說幾句話
have words with:與…爭論
2. can never…too…
can not…too… 無論怎樣…也不過分,越…越好
3. as+adj/adv(原級)+as possible=as…as one can: 盡可能…
4. appreciate +n/doing
appreciate +it+ that-clause(真賓)
5. to do/doing
intend+ sb to do
that-clause(虛擬語氣)
intend… + as…: 打算(使)…成為…
be intended for…:(為…而)準備

7. 部分否定句:all, both, every, everyone, everything等總概括詞與否定詞not連用時,表示部分否定,意思是“并非…都…”。
8. make up:化妝,編造,組成(部分組成整體),占…(比例)
be made up of:一個整體是由幾個部分組成

=consist of
make up for:彌補
9. in(out of) condition/in good(bad) condition:情況良好(糟糕)
On/upon condition that(引導條件狀從):如果…,在…條件下
10. vi.: 受苦,受害,受損失
He suffered a lot during the war.
suffer Your reputation will suffer.
vt.:遭受,容忍,耐住
He is suffering the loss of his wife.
These plants cannot suffer a cold winter.
suffer from: 患…病,受…之苦
Last week I suffered from a bad cold.
His hometown suffered from heavy floods in 1998.
二、語法專題──定語從句的解題方法
1. 通讀全句,判斷是否為定語從句。
2. 題干若為疑問句,將其恢復為陳述語序。
3. 認真分析句中所提供的信息,確定定語從句的類型,是限制性定語從句還是非限制性定語從句。
4. 確定從句中所缺的成分,從而做出正確的選擇。
5. 將選項填入句子中,看語意是否通順。
6. 在此過程中,還要注意標點符號的位置,以及并列連詞but, and的作用。
根據(jù)文化背景常識:①利用英語國家的文化背景知識,英語國家的文化背景知識包括英語國家的風俗習慣、歷史事件、地理位置等。我們做題時若能積極調(diào)動自己的文化背景知識,注意中西文化各方面存在的差異,將會大大簡化復雜的分析與判斷過程,選出正確的答案。②結(jié)合生活常識,避免常識性錯誤。完形填空文章的內(nèi)容經(jīng)常與日常生活相關(guān),因此當我們對語言的把握不準確時,可充分利用社會知識和科普常識來幫助判斷,這就要求我們平時既要多體驗生活,又要博覽群書。
例1: Sometimes I really doubt whether there is love between my parents. They are very busy working to support the family. They don’t act in the romantic ways that I read in books or I se on TV. Flowers to each other on Valentine’s Day is even more out of the question.
