friends with your mother!" Then Bob laughed, too." That's a funny way to make friends,"

     Tom is the son of a farm owner. One New Year's Day, when he was 15, his father asked him to
work on the farm for one year when he was free. Tom was unhappy with his father's idea. "That isn't my
job,  I have too much schoolwork to do." Hearing this, his father said,"I promise (許諾) to give you the
best present if you can finish one year's work." Tom thought for a while and agreed.
     Starting one Saturday, the boy got up early and worked hard until evening, just like any other farmer.

It was Mother’s Day, but the young mother was a little unhappy, because she was 800 miles away from her parents. In the morning, she phoned her mother to wish her a happy Mother’s Day, and her mother told her about the beautiful lilacs（丁香）in the garden.
Later that day, when she told her husband about the lilacs, he said, “I know where we can find all that you want. Get the children and come on.” So they went out, driving down the country roads.
