A young American doctor was sleeping when suddenly his doorbell began to ring. It was already midnight, but what could the doctor do? He had to get up, put on his coat and go downstairs.
When he opened the door, he saw a man standing with a hat in his hand. “How do you do?” said the man,“ Can you come at once to a place out of town? It’s quite far but you have a car and I can show you the way.”

    "I'm making a cake for Mrs. Smith next door," said her mother.

I live on the twelfth floor of a building. One afternoon I was coming home from a friend’s house. It was just after four o’clock. I got quickly into the lift and pressed Button(按鈕) 12.
The lift started to go up, but very slowly. And then, half way up, it suddenly stopped between two floors. I couldn’t understand it. I pressed all the buttons from 1 to 14. I called for help very loudly. But nobody answered.
