Five Years of Achievements Made in Child Development

It has been five years since China issued its National Program for Child Development(2011-2020) designed to improve the protection of children’s rights and interests. Five categories are covered in the program, including health, education, welfare, social environment and legal protection. The following are some achievements about the program.

Children and Health

From 2012 to 2015, 2.67 million children aged 6-24 months from 341 poor counties of 21 provinces received free packages of nutritional supplements. Since the action was launched in 2009, it has benefited over 4 million children in total. By the end of 2015, China had built 3,098 maternal and child healthcare hospitals(婦幼保健院).

☆China established 338,200 education centers for parents whose children study in kindergartens, primary and high schools, as well as adult education vocational schools.

☆9,147 online schools for parents

☆247 million children visited museums in 2015, more than double that of 2010.
